On Saturday afternoon, I attended the WSFF’s Master Class at the Isabel Bader Theatre to learn more about filmmaking from the perspective of Montreal-based auteur, Jean-Marc Vallée (Café de Flore, The Young Victoria). CTV’s resident film critic, Richard Crouse, moderated the symposium.

Vallée took to the stage to thunderous applause wearing a creepy mask, (which he explained he would don later that evening at The Night Shift screening).  He went into great detail about the process of writing and directing films, the subtle use of special effects in his work, and the fact that casting alone ...

Today in our "Meet the..." Series, we present a double whammy! We chat with filmmaker Jean-Marc Vallée, director of the acclaimed hits C.R.A.Z.Y. and Café de Flore AND the always amazing film critic, Richard Crouse.

Day Two of #wsff12 saw me take in an afternoon screening about love at the Isabel Bader Theatre at U of T’s picturesque Victoria campus. At the heart of nearly every film is a love story. And the eight shorts that make up the LOVE HURTS programme are no exception.
