The Canadian Film Centre’s Worldwide Short Film Festival (WSFF) is North America’s premier venue for the exhibition and promotion of short film. WSFF is attended by filmmakers, buyers, and delegates from many countries, and is one of only four festivals in Canada accredited by the Academy Awards®.
The Symposium Intern is responsible for providing key administrative support to the Symposium team in the lead up to the festival, and for helping to ensure successful event execution during the festival.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide key administrative support to the Symposium Producer and Festival Coordinator in the lead up to the festival;
- Assembly and collation of Symposium Session information;
- Preparing for the festival move. Set up and organize the Symposium Venues;
- Host our Symposium panelists, jury members, filmmakers and any other special guests during the festival;
- Serve as a point of contact for general symposium information during the festival;
- Attend the festival special events during the festival;
- Supervise volunteers, as necessary;
- Attend the Volunteer Recruitment Session, Festival Launch and WSFF staff meetings;
- Other duties as required or assigned;
- Writing a final Guest Services report.
DESIRABLE SKILLS AND QUALITIES:
- Knowledge of FileMaker Pro or equivalent database;
- Organizational skills and an ability to manage competing priorities;
- Comfort communicating with a wide spectrum of people. Experience with public relations or customer service is an asset;
- Ability to troubleshoot situations, and handle stress with aplomb and grace;
- Friendly and personable demeanor.
